There are several different types of ticket prices.
The 2 main categories are "Follow your team" called TST (because the draw for has not been done)
and per match tickets (you won't know which teams you're going to watch)

You have to apply for tickets, you can't just buy them unfortunately.
The draw for phase 1 tickets happened today.
You can start applying again on the FIFA website from the 4th of May.

It hasn't been determined yet but will most likely be in Brazil. I wouldn't start checking out air fares at this point because everything is skyhigh due to all the conflicts in the world raising gas prices. Besides they won't take reservations this far in advance anyway for airlines or motels. You'll have a better idea as time gets closer and there will probably be a number of airlines making special deals. Still I like your enthusiasm about going. My husband and I are thinking about it too.

I have read that there are ways to tell if the tickets are genuine, including the hologram in the top right hand corner, which should say Germany 2006, and the ticket should have indented left and right sides. There should also be a perforation on the right-hand side.

Depends very much on how you get them and what part of the competition you get them for. Final tickets are almost impossible to come to unless you buy on the black market or get lucky and pick a team at the start say you are a fan off... and if you get into the traveling party you have first grab at every game they play. Those end up costing lots. I don't know the 2010 price scale and I don't even think South Africa does yet. For the tickets left after corporate sponsors and required allocation to each country they go on a lottery and it is a fluke if your name is pulled out of the hat.

Depends on which team you want to see, for many of the group games involving 2 of the lesser supported nations you may be able to get tickets.

You may even be able to get them on the black market at a reasonable price (possibly face value) if you turn up to the game and hang around outside the ground until the last minute. Don't worry about the fact that they have said that they will be cross checking passport ID with the name on the tickets, there is no way that this will happen.

If you want tickets for games involving England then you have no chance!

Because the whole system was a crapshoot that meant real fans affiliated to their National Supporters Associations got tiny allocations.

I used to work at one of the big football sponsors and during Euro 2000, every employee had the option to buy tickets at a subsidised rate - most people bought them and then sold them on to desperate fans at a huge profit.

It's about the fact that the World Cup is now a way to make money and not about the football any more.

Hi, i've just been made aware that today is the last day for phase one for the world cup ticket application. Was just wondering could anyone outline the story for me. I see there is team specific tickets. So if i apply for one of them and am successful in my application do i still get charged if my team don't get to the world cup ?
Also I see you can apply for a guest? One of my mates said he's up for it, but if he changes his mind can i get someone else to take his ticket or the fact that i've entered his passport number etc does that mean only he can take it.
The price of the team specific ticket is scaring me, i would only be interested in it if my team gets to the world cup.
I see there is later phases. I realise it's first come first served. I wonder should i just wait for that ? Or would anyone say you have to go with phase 1 if you want to be sure of a ticket ?

Also any small print stuff like non refundable deposits etc. I would also like advice on please.

2006 so happened to coincide with my high school graduation. I was able to get a trip to Germany as a graduation present. I figured being American the best chance I had of getting tickets to decent games was through the lottery so I put my name in for a couple tickets for a quarter final match, a couple of tickets for a semifinal, and a couple for the finals. I wasn't expecting to get my name called up for any of the matches, just enjoying the time in Germany with everyone celebrating hosting the world cup, and some great bear garden crowds or something, i did stay till the end. However my number was called for the quarter final match. I got 2 tickets to go see, arguably the game of the tournament, the quarter final between Germany and Argentina that went into penalty kicks and a little brawl afterwards.

It was worth the price of admission. I don't know about odds, or of your chances but if you want to go to South Africa then it wouldn't hurt to put your name in the hat.

FIFA has opened a ticket transfer portal. Go to Yahoo and search on "FIFA world cup" to get to the official site, and click on "Tickets". It's the main story there right now. The portal allows you to transfer the tickets into another person's name. I think there's a fee of 10 Euros you have to pay, however. This will allow your friend to enter the game officially. I don't think they will check everybody's IDs, but that the checks will be at random. Better to officially transfer the tickets, however.

I paid 100 US dollars for a seventh row seat in a group stage game. That was 2006. I would guess 2010 will be quite a bit more. Once you get out of the group stages the prices skyrocket. If I remember correctly, it was something like 2,500 for the final.

I heard that the tickets go on sale in February and I was wondering, for those who have ever purchased world cup tickets before, how available they are to buy on Fifa.com? I'd imagine they'd sell out fast and have certain quantity limits so no one can buy many and make a fortune by selling them all.

It depends on where the game is held, what teams are playing and what seats you want to get. Even if you want semi-good seats, and since soccer is the most popular sport around the world, you're probably looking at $1200 a seat.

How to get a refund for your 2010 world cup ticket?

I have recently bought the world cup ticket online, and after careful planning, found that i cannot attend a match, and i would like to get a refund. I went to the same websute where i purchased the ticket, and i cannot find "how to get a refund". it is for 3 tickets.

All sales are usually final when purchasing tickets. Post the tickets online for sale and sell them in the secondary ticket market. I have had good success on www.VertexTickets.com since they reach a large audience and sell a lot of football tickets.

The best thing you should do is after you receive the tickets, put them up on Ebay. I bought tickets before for the last 2 World Cups and couldn't attend matches so I sold them on Ebay. I got more than double of what I paid for them! People will tell you that your name is on the ticket so you cannot sell it but not one single person checks ID before entering stadiums and thousands of people are selling their tickets on Ebay.
I have the same dilemna, I got 7 pairs of tickets but found out none of my friends want to join me so I have to sell 1 ticket of each game.

Selling the tickets would be illegal! FIFA does allow you to change ownership of the tickets, but only under special circumstances. You will need to explain to them why you bought the tickets, and why you can no longer attend the game.

**** FIFA. Just sell the tickets to someone else, you might even make a profit. I am sure there are lots of people who would like to get some tickets, but were unable to procure them online.
